5 helpful tips for sharing space

Updated: Aug 18

Here, we share some handy tips that can help you share a space with other users.

  1. Bring users together regularly: Good agreements make good friends, but how do you reach good agreements? We regularly bring all users of a Vast-Goed location together during a management council. During such a council, users can vent, share ideas and make agreements with the other users.

  2. Formulate clear principles and assumptions: Are you facing a challenge with your users? Or is something unexpected happening? Clear principles, such as shared management and use principles, often provide a clear framework to respond consistently.

  3. Build bridges between your users: what is the biggest advantage of sharing space? You are rarely alone. Often other users come up against similar challenges, or they have a solution in store that you yourself have not yet thought of. From our Fixed Good model, we always try to link users' needs and look for smart, shared solutions.

  4. Involve the neighbourhood: with our model, together with the users, we look for ways to involve the neighbourhood in our properties. That way, we keep a finger on the pulse, and often bump into refreshing ideas from people in the neighbourhood.

  5. Build a nice and warm place together: making rules and agreements is important. But so is building a nice and warm atmosphere! Therefore, provide enough informal and pleasant meetings between the users so that they can get to know each other better. New ideas often emerge this way.
